Each space has its own type of interior door
For rooms such as toilets or bedrooms, you will mainly opt for solid doors, to preserve privacy. On the other hand, for rooms in a row (living room dining room, for example), favor glass doors which will guarantee brightness. For a child’s room , you can turn to acoustic doors which will significantly reduce noise compared to standard door blocks (provided you also put a sound barrier). “There are also insulated doors that will protect against the cold and insulate the room, explains Véronique Degardin, door product manager at Lapeyre. They can be useful to separate the kitchen from the entrance to the garage or placed near the entrance, for example. Hinged or sliding interior doors?
Swing doors are by far the most common in France. They consist of a door and a frame connected to the masonry and only open on one side, depending on the location of the handle. Avoid in small spaces. They slide along a high rail and a floor guide and save space since you save between 0.77 and 1 m2 on the floor by eliminating the door opening. Honeycomb or solid interior doors?
At the entry level, you will find so-called honeycomb doors. Less expensive, they are also much less resistant, specifies Philippe Anger, director of Anger Portes, a French company specializing in the manufacture of interior doors: “The interior of the door is made of honeycomb (cardboard) and air, it sounds hollow and will therefore be much more fragile than a wooden door.To increase their resistance, the honeycomb of our doors is tighter, the facings are two-sided and thicker, the cleats that frame the door is made of wood and not medium and finally, the frames are made of exotic wood”.

How much does an interior door cost?
We buy an average of 4 to 5 per home, at the rate of 4 full and one glazed (average for a 5-room house). Suffice to say that the budget will be one of the selection criteria. From 25 euros for a basic honeycomb door in a discount store to more than 3,000 euros for certain very designer door units including glass or fiber optics, the prices make the big difference.
